The first Fiat light commercial vehicle was manufactured in 1903 and from that moment, this segment has become increasingly important. Thanks to a vast range of products and the capacity to respond to the varied needs of the transportation sector, the Fiat Professional brand has attained a leadership role in its field.
The facts confirm this: in 2008. the brand held a share of over 43.2% of the Italian market (42.1% in 2007) and 12.3% of the European market. (11.7% in 2007). It has experienced continual growth on a global scale which has seen the brand move from selling 163 thousand units in 2000 to over 419 thousand in 2008.
Fiat Ducato, the leading model of the product range and the top choice in Europe, played a major role in attaining these results. During 2008 it exceeded the threshold of 2,000,000 units manufactured since the model first went into production. In addition, the brand now has received, for the second consecutive year, the prestigious “International Van of the Year” award – in 2008 for the Scudo and in 2009 for the Fiorino.
