Maserati is an automaker rich in style, tradition and sporting success. Founded in Bologna in 1914, the company won its first Formula 1 championship in 1954 and its second in 1957.
Today Maserati is a company at the very vanguard in terms of its technology and people and takes pride in the history and traditions which are at the very core of its innovation.
This is demonstrated by the models presented during 2009: the Quattroporte Sport GT S, the jewel in the crown of a range which is admired around the world; the GranTurismo S automatic, the most captivating interpretation of Maserati's sportiness; and, the latest addition presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, the thrilling GranCabrio, Maserati's first ever four-seater convertible.
Maserati is the only Italian constructor to have won the Indianapolis 500, where it took the winner's trophy two years running: in 1939 and 1940. The company's sporting tradition continues to the present day with the multi-victorious MC12, winner of 10 FIA GT Championship titles over the past 4 seasons. In 2009, Maserati also celebrated the 80th anniversary of its first world record and in 2010 it returns to the track with its most passionate racing clients as they compete in the new single-marque Maserati Trophy.
