Comau

Comau is a global supplier of equipment and industrial automation systems, particularly for the automotive sector. Thanks to a broad assortment of solutions in the areas of welding systems and body assembly, as well as in manufacturing processes and mechanical assembly, it is one of the leaders in the marketplace.

The Sector started operating in 1935, but it was only in 1978 that Comau joined the machine tool and production system activities developed by Fiat, and other companies in the Turin area, under a single corporate umbrella.

Over the years, Comau has made important acquisitions to strengthen its presence in its core business segments, in particular in Bodywork, Mechanical Engineering and Robotics. Fiat's acquisition of Pico in 1999 (American market leader for bodywork systems), and Comau's acquisition of Renault Automation and Sciaky, structurally reinforced the Company’s presence in its principal markets and its position as a supplier to the main automotive manufacturers. Comau broadened its range of services by offering maintenance services for production plants at its customers’ manufacturing facilities.

Consistent and considerable investments in research and technological development have allowed the Company to present itself on the market as a supplier of a complete range of engineering solutions: from the development of the product to the realization of automation systems for industrial production. The latter is directed at sectors other than automobiles and includes, for example, the aerospace industry and certain sectors in the general industry.
