FPT Powertrain Technologies is a young company that embodies an important heritage. FPT was established in March 2005 with the aim of grouping together, in one single company, the Group’s skills and know-how in the areas of engines and transmissions. The Company encompasses all Powertrain activities of Fiat Group Automobiles, Iveco, Centro Ricerche Fiat and Elasis.
With an annual output of around 3.1 million engines and 2.5 million transmissions, FPT is one of the most significant players in the powertrain sector on a worldwide basis. FPT is present in 7 countries with around 20,000 employees. In addition, a network of dealers and service centres ensures the presence of its brand and products in over 100 countries. Approximately 3,000 highly skilled technicians are dedicated to the development and engineering of innovative technologies. The quality and reliability of this great endeavour are confirmed by more than 40 patents filed each year.
Thanks to an extremely wide range of products and technologies, FPT can satisfy almost any market request, ensuring a high level of performance, reliability and efficiency to its customers. The solutions that FPT develops and produces are earmarked for the automotive industry as well as for the industrial machinery, marine and power generation sectors.
The Company’s commitment to developing engines running with alternative fuels specifically developed and produced in and for the South American market, is very strong. FPT is also one of the most important players in the world of CNG engines, considered the most sustainable and effective solution in response to environmental considerations in the short term. Furthermore, development activities are carried out regarding future powertrain technologies, such as Hydrogen Fuel Cell propulsion systems.
Dynamism and technology are represented by FPT RACING, a team of about 45 engineers working on the design, test, development and production of engines for racing cars, performance kits to upgrade gasoline and diesel powertrains, and special engines for limited series.
