Components and Production Systems
The four Companies that are part of the Components and Production Systems business area, Fiat Powertrain Technologies, Magneti Marelli, Teksid and Comau, have significantly contributed to the growth of the Fiat Group.
Their business is based on a Company strategy which is centred on key principles: product innovation, design flexibility reflecting client needs, rapid process management, technological collaboration partnerships with industry leaders, and the consolidation and expansion of production and sales in developing countries.
These companies, each a leader in its specific market, have concentrated their research, development and production in certain specific areas:
• Fiat Powertrain Technologies groups together all powertrain activities of the Fiat Group (engines and transmissions for cars, light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles, buses, industrial machinery, pleasure and professional marine applications, and energy generators). • Magneti Marelli designs and produces cutting-edge technology systems and components for vehicles in the lighting, electronic systems, engine control, suspensions and shock absorbers, exhaust systems, and motorsports areas. It also operates in the distribution of spare-parts in the independent market. • Teksid supplies engine blocks, cylinder heads and other cast-iron engine components, as well as cast-iron components for transmissions, gearboxes and suspensions, and aluminium cylinder heads. • Comau produces industrial automation systems for the automotive industry in the areas of product and process engineering, management, manufacturing, installation, production start-up and maintenance of manufacturing facilities.
It’s important to note that the four Companies are each committed, within their field, to plan solutions that encapsulate technological innovation with a minimal environmental impact. In this way, they contribute to the development of truly sustainable mobility and, in effect, reflect one of the fundamental values that permeate the entire Fiat Group.

Blue FPT won the longest off-shore race in the world. The Greek crew won the legendary race with more than one-hour lead over its competitors: the race consisted of 10 legs, challenging coastline, 47 boats, 1,400 miles around Great Britain. Three 480 hp N60-480 production series Fiat Powertrain Technologies turbodiesel Common Rail engines beat competition engines used by competitors, an incredible achievement.
